Here’s a flavour of 2025’s workshops:
Day-long outdoor sketching and botany days at Birkdale Farm near Terrington, in the beautiful Howardian Hills with Frances Standen (ecologist and farmer) and myself.
‘Wildflowers and Rolling Hills’ and ‘Hedgerows and Fungi’
Frances will tell you about the flowers, fungi, berries and ecology of the site, while Kate will guide your sketch book observations and techniques to collect useful visual information while out in the landscape.
In the morning, we work outside where the plants grow. In the afternoon, or if the weather’s wet, we will work inside to allow us to get up close the subjects and study them in closer detail.

One-to-one / small group bespoke sessions
Do you want to gain confidence and experiment, with some more bespoke guidance in my studio in Holtby, or working outside?
You might want to come on your own or come with a friend/small group of friends.
- Explore your own style and ideas in a relaxed studio environment or outdoors
- Experiment with mediums – play, explore and develop
- Connect/re-connect with your own creativity and skills
- Overcome nervousness about making mistakes – there are no such things!
- Develop your observational skills
- Work from sketches and studies.
