This work was painted on a stormy day in the Rhynogydd mountains, North Wales. The rain came in quickly, and the hills opposite the house were swathed in mist, moving fast from inland towards the sea. As quickly as it came in, it dissipated – the clouds parted, the skies turned from lilac and lead to cobalt blue, and the sun shone on the wet grass.
