I’m a great believer in using bigger pictures in small domestic spaces. I live in a tiny house and have a 1m square Freya Horsley painting on my living room wall. We weren’t going to buy one that big, but we fell in love and that was that. The effect is that my small room now has a big new window with a wonderful view! It feels larger and more open.

If you needed proof, here’s Light over Littondale in situ in the Corner Gallery, York. Kay hangs the paintings in her house, and it’s lovely to see them displayed in a domestic setting. Her living room is painted a deep, rich Farrow and Ball Hague Blue that makes the colours in my painting sing.

Be brave!
